Ensemble "Akilov Family"

      The ensemble has a name of People's artist of Uzbekistan Issakhar Akilov - an outstanding dancer and choreographer, a founder of a dance dynasty. A Musical director of the ensemble - Malkiel Akilov - is a soloist-virtuoso, who simultaneously plays three doiras. A highly qualified expert in musical folklore, he teaches at Bar-Ilan University, musicology department. One of the program's items is old customs of Middle-Asian Jews, including a complete wedding ceremony with traditional dishes. Galya Akilova is Artistic director and the ensemble's soloist. People's Artist of Uzbekistan Margarita Akilova, who is on stage for 70 years already and was honored with a "Golden Shoe" prize in Hungarian festival, realizes the staging.
      The ensemble toured around Germany, Austria, USA, Canada, Italy, Brazil, etc. The ensemble was honored with a Golden Cup in the 42nd Worldwide Folklore Festival and won the first prize in Niagara Festival (1997).
