The State Academic Symphonic orchestra
of Russian Federation


      The State Academic Symphonic orchestra of Russian Federation is one of the leading musical bands of our country. The first orchestra's performance happened in 1936. The first orchestra's artistic director and general conductor was Alexander Gauk. In 1941-46 Nathan Rakhlin headed the orchestra, in 1946-65 - Constantine Ivanov, in 1965-99 - Evgeny Svetlanov. A merit for leading the orchestra towards one of the world first-class symphonic orchestras mostly belongs to him. Russian music has always been an inalienable part of the repertoire. All symphonic classics was played by the orchestra, as well as contemporary Prokofiev, Khachaturyan, Kabalevsky, Shostakovitch, Khrennikov, Shchedrin music. The orchestra is a constant guest at world-known festivals; it performs in the best concert halls of the world. The State Academic Symphonic orchestra is called "the great" abroad; in Russia it is undoubtedly a national cultural property of the country, as well as The Bolshoy and Maryinsky Theatres. Present orchestra's Artistic director is a well-known Russian conductor Vasiliy Sinaisky.
